Pizza Custard Toast | Easy Toddler Lunch

0.0 from 0 votes

This Pizza Custard Toast is a fun savory twist on the viral custard toast! Made with egg, cottage cheese, marinara, broccoli, and melty mozzarella, it’s an easy toddler-friendly lunch that comes together with just a handful of ingredients.

The center stays soft and creamy while the edges of the bread get lightly crisp in the oven. And with protein, veggies, and carbs all in one little toast, it’s a great option for those days when you need to get lunch on the table quickly.

Ingredients

  • 2 slices bread

  • 1 large egg

  • 2 tbsp cottage cheese

  • 2 tbsp marinara sauce

  • 2–3 tbsp cooked broccoli, very finely chopped

  • ¼ tsp Italian seasoning

  • 2–3 tbsp shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a small baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Place the bread on the baking sheet. Press down the centers with the back of a spoon, leaving a border around the edges.
  • Whisk the egg, cottage cheese, marinara, and Italian seasoning in a small bowl. Stir in the finely chopped cooked broccoli. (I like to blend the Cottage cheese but it is totally optional)
  • Divide the mixture between the bread slices. Top with mozzarella.
  • Bake for 10–13 minutes, or until the egg is set, the cheese is melted, and the edges are lightly golden.
  • Cool for a few minutes before serving. Cut into strips or small pieces for younger toddlers.
  • Air Fryer: Air fry at 350°F for 7–9 minutes, or until the egg is fully set and the cheese is melted. Cooking time may vary depending on your air fryer, so start checking early.

Notes

  • Cook the broccoli first. Steam or boil it until tender, then chop it finely.
Avoid overfilling. A shallow layer cooks more evenly and helps prevent soggy bread.
Use sturdy bread. Thicker slices hold the filling better.
Check the egg. Make sure the center is fully set before serving.
    Ingredient Substitutions
Cottage cheese: Substitute plain Greek yogurt.
Broccoli: Use finely chopped cooked spinach or squeezed grated zucchini.
Mozzarella: Substitute cheddar or another melting cheese.
Bread: Use whole wheat, sourdough, or multigrain bread.
What to Serve With Pizza Custard Toast
Serve on its own or with fruit, avocado, cucumber, or another favorite vegetable.
    Storage and Reheating
    Best if served fresh!
