Soft and chewy banana oat bars made with just 4 simple ingredients. An easy egg-free snack for toddlers, kids and the whole family.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas

  • 1½ cups rolled oats

  • ¼ cup peanut butter or nut butter of choice

  • ¼ cup chocolate chips

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Add the bananas to a large bowl and mash well with a fork.
  • Add the rolled oats, peanut butter and chocolate chips. Mix until everything is well combined. You can add 1-2 Tbsp of Honey if you’d like it to be sweeter.
  • Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking pan and press it into an even layer.
  • Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until the bars are set and lightly golden around the edges.
  • Let them cool completely before slicing into bars or squares.

Notes

  • For softer, fudgier bars: Use ½ cup peanut butter or nut butter instead of ¼ cup. They’ll be richer, softer and a little more fudgy.
Bananas matter: Use very ripe bananas with plenty of brown spots. They provide most of the sweetness and moisture in these bars.
Chocolate chips: You can use regular or mini chocolate chips. For younger kids, mini chocolate chips are an easy option.
Nut-free option: Use a seed butter such as sunflower seed butter if you need to make them nut-free.
Storage: Since these contain fresh banana, I’d store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 4–5 days rather than at room temperature.
Serving: You can serve them straight from the fridge or let them sit at room temperature for a few minutes for a softer texture.
